Svjato-Voznesenski Orthodox Cathedral

The Holy Ascension Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church is located in the center of Panfilovtsam Park.  The cathedral is one of the nine most unique monuments of wooden buildings in the world. Its wall paintings and interior decorations amaze visitors with their beauty and splendor.

The author of the project is a talented architect, civil engineer A.P. Zenkov. Built in 1904-1907 without a single nail, it withstood the ten-point earthquake of 1911 and all subsequent ones. Despite the fact that for many years (from 1927 to 1995)  the temple was not used for its intended purpose, it retained its greatness. After its return to the Russian Orthodox Church and restoration work, the temple gradually regains its original splendor. Services are held daily in the cathedral.
