Kok-tyube and TV tower

Kok-tube (green peak) is a hilly area in the foothills of the Zailinsky Alatau, bordering the city in the south. Koktyube reaches a height of 1070 m, the top of this hill is crowned by a TV tower.   This TV tower is the tallest building in Almaty, its height is 372 m. The building is built taking into account the mountainous terrain and can withstand an earthquake up to 10 points. The TV tower is a radio—television transmitting station and is not available for sightseeing tours of the city. Illuminated at night by powerful floodlights, the tower is visible from almost anywhere in the city.

Here, on a green hill, there is also an observation deck and a cafe where you can enjoy barbecue in the fresh air. Koktyube is the best place to view the night city. And if you decide to go up there in the daytime, then the return descent on foot will seem to you a pleasant walk. You can get to Kok Tube by cable car, which starts from the Republican Palace.
