Central Mosque of Almaty

In July 1999, a new Central Mosque was opened in Almaty – one of the largest in Kazakhstan. It is designed for 7000 visitors. The majestic building is decorated with marble and colored tiles made in Kazakh national motifs. The mosque is crowned by a blue dome with a diameter of 20 m and a height of 36 m. The height of the large minaret is 47 m . In addition to Islamic and Orthodox cultural buildings, synagogues, Buddhist temples, and various national cultural centers operate in Almaty.
