It also presents works of Russian and Western European schools of painting, there is a unique collection of paintings by the famous, but not recognized during his lifetime, avant-garde genius Sergei Kalmykov.

The organic connection with the original folk art is demonstrated by the exposition of modern decorative and applied art of Kazakhstan, which presents a wide variety of types: tapestry, ceramics, glass, jewelry, artistic processing of felt, wood, metal, leather, sewing, embroidery.

Tapestry, a relatively young type of weaving for Kazakhstan, is particularly popular. The history of its development began in the late 30s of the twentieth century. Sketches were created by famous Kazakh artists A. Kasteev, A. Ismailov, G. Ismailova, N. Tsivchinsky, and tapestries were woven by folk craftsmen in the technique of traditional Kazakh weaving.
